Our ministry in Fiji 2003-2020
ur family has been serving in full time ministry since 1998 and with YWAM (Youth With A Mission) since 2003. In January of 2014 our family moved to Savusavu, Fiji and began training local pastors and working with several different church denominations. After a few months the opportunity came for us to move to the capital city of Fiji, Suva, to set up and lead a national office for YWAM Fiji. We thank God for our time in Fiji which came to close in 2020. We will forever be grateful for the things we learned. We will never be the same!
Teaching/Pastoral Care
A very important ministry for us in Fiji was teaching. YWAM runs several Discipleship Training Schools in Fiji and we taught for 1 or 2 weeks in many schools. In addition to this, we travelled to various locations to help them with staff training and development before every school they run.
Another part of our work in Fiji was to encourage and be a listening ear to the local leaders and staff. As we travelled to each location, meeting with the staff, hearing their heart, praying them through any issues and just being good listeners. We continue to see the need to care for our members spiritual, physical and mental health.
Leadership
We were part of the leadership for the National Office for YWAM Fiji. This means that we represented our mission to the Fijian government. We also met with all of the leaders every 2 months for prayer and planning. We enjoyed teaching about YWAM policy and ran training in the areas of international child protection policy and other international YWAM standards. In addition to these things we worked in several YWAM teams which are responsible for leadership and teaching in the Pacific region.
