a life of faith
In 2003, when we were thinking about missions, a friend encouraged us to become missionaries with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). His reason? YWAM missionaries are not paid. He went on to explain that missionary work with YWAM was a tremendous act of faith and we would need to trust God for everything. Trusting God for our finances was a way for us to grow in faith and draw closer to Him.
Youth With A Mission does not pay any of it's workers. Legally, we are all considered to be "self employed contract workers," which means that we rely on God to provide for everything we need. In other words we work for YWAM but we do not get paid by YWAM.
God, in His infinite wisdom, has put us in an incredible community of people who love, encourage, and support us in many ways. God's followers supporting God's "priests" is a part of the Judeo-Christian that goes back thousands of years.
Without these people our work would not be possible.

give financially
Although we do not receive a weekly paycheck like a "regular job" we do receive money each month from friends, family, churches and businesses that want to support our ministry. We are so thankful for the very generous people that faithfully give to our family and allow us to focus on what God has called us to do.
There are two different ways that you can give that are briefly described below. Ideally we would like to have our 1/2 of our supporters give through YWAM and the other 1/2 through the Great Commission Foundation.

Giving through YWAM CanadaMany years ago YWAM Canada set up a project funding office that receives money for YWAM Missionaries. They are a registered charity in Canada and issue receipts (Canadian tax payers only) for donations from within Canada.
Since we first became missionarie YWAM's Project Funding Office (PFO) has been the main way that we receive support. |
Giving through the great commission foundationIn 2017 we became members of the Great Commission Foundation to help raise support for our ministry. TGCF receives donations on our behalf and issues tax receipts to both Canadians and Americans.
Donations made through TGCF are used to pay for ministry expenses such as office rent, travel, purchasing books, buying international health insurance, etc. |
